1. Diploma or Bachelor’s Programmes
General Entry Requirements
To be eligible for admission into the University, every student must fulfill the following requirements:
- A pass in the GCE Ordinary Level or Probatoire
- A pass in at least two GCE Advanced Level subjects or BAC
- A pass in English Language at the GCE Ordinary Level or proof of Proficiency in the English Language from an accredited Language Learning Centre or the University Intensive English Language Course.
2. Masters Programmes
General Requirements (For the Masters Degree)
- Applicants must be holders of a Bachelors Degree from the University or any other recognized University.
- The Grade Point Average (GPA) of the candidate shall be 2.5/4 or higher
- For candidates with five or more years of work experience, a lower GPA might be acceptable, especially if their work experience is relevant to the field of study.
3.Ph.D Programmes
In order to enhance the quality of PhD, IUBTG, establishes acceptable standards and guidelines for the same. This has been recognised as an important process of establishing sustainable internal quality assurance mechanisms and system that will ensure that the awards of the University meet national, regional and global standards of excellence.
A prospective student should apply in writing to the Academic Registrar using the approved University application form.
1. A research Proposal , and Applicants must be holders of a Masters Degree from a recognized University
2.A detailed curriculum vitae,
3.letters of recommendation (provided with the application) and verified copies of academic documents should be appended to the application.
4. The Grade Point Average (GPA) of the candidate should be 3.00/4 or higher
Every application shall be forwarded to the Higher Degrees Committee for consideration and to Senate for final approval of admission.
A research Proposal contains the following: (a) Title of possible research topic in not more than 24 words; (b) Background to the study; (c) Statement of Problem; (d) General aim and specific objectives; (e) Significance, (that is, relevance of the study in terms of academic contributions and practical use); (f) Methodology (stating study design, study population, sampling, data collection methods and techniques of data analysis); (g) Ethical considerations and necessary permits to be applied for; (h) References. During the vetting exercise, the Higher Degrees Vetting Panel considers the following:- (a) Whether the proposed work is researchable; (b) suitability and availability of the supervisors proposed by the student; where the student has not proposed a supervisor the university shall suggest two possible supervisors; (c) candidate is qualified to do a PhD by research or by coursework.
The Doctoral degree shall be awarded to students who have demonstrated:
(a) the creation and interpretation of new knowledge, through original research or other advanced scholarship, of a quality to satisfy peers, extend the forefront of the discipline, and merit publication; 4 Publication articles in international journals
(b) a systematic acquisition and understanding of a substantial body of knowledge which is at the forefront of an academic discipline or area of professional practice;
(c) the general ability to conceptualise, design and implement a project for the generation of new knowledge and its application in understanding the discipline; (d) a detailed understanding of applicable techniques for research and advanced academic enquiry. 33
PhD Conference
A PhD conference will be held 2 conferences at which students will have the opportunity to present Scholarly papers in their areas of research. The Director SPGSR shall be responsible for organising the annual conference. The participating PhD student shall contribute towards the expenses of the conference, paper review and publication.
